Dear Church Friends,

I want to thank you for the prayer support you gave to me at the time of my recent health “scare”.  No one believes in the power of prayer more than I do, and I am so appreciative of all the prayers lifted up for me.  I love you all!

MEET OUR EXCHANGE  STUDENTS

We have  two families in our church, each of whom are hosting a foreign exchange student for this school year.  Jimmy and Joyce George have Roger Castellanous from Mexico in their home, and Duane and Cara Divelbliss are hosting Sujit Chitthichanonte (nick named Bas).  Bas is from Bangkok, Thailand.  He is 15 years old and attends Northeast High School.  Roger is 17 years old and also attends Northeast High School.  I hope you will help make these young men feel at home while they are here.

UPCOMING FALL BIBLE STUDY

Life often sends us to our wits’ end, with our backs against a wall and no idea how to escape.  At times like these, there’s a battle going on between our head and our heart.  In our hearts we believe God loves us, but in our heads we struggle with tough questions.

Join us on Monday, Sept. 8th’ at 6:30 p.m. as we address some of these questions.  Rose Lang will be leading a study, “God at Your Wits’ End” by Marilyn Meberg as we uncover faulty thinking that leads to feelings of uncertainty about our faith.  Books can be purchased from Lifeway or you may go on line to find them.

252 BASICS BEGINS SOON

Our new Wednesday evening curriculum, 252 Basics, for 1st – 6th graders, begins on Wednesday evening, Sept. 3rd at 6:30 p.m.  Parents need to fill out a registration form.  You can pick one up this Sunday in the back of the Celebration Room.  Also, our Kindergarten and Preschoolers will be starting a new study called, “In the Beginning.”  Lots of great things are taking place for our children this Fall!!

Sanctuary Choir rehearsals begin again for the fall season on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd at 6:30 p.m.  If you enjoy singing and being part of a ministry team, come and join us!

WE THANK YOU!

First of all, we want to thank Mr. Harry Wright for installing our new ice machine.  He worked long and hard to get it operating, and we appreciate being able to have plenty of ice.

Secondly, thanks to Butch and Jane Osborn who coordinated our carry-in dinner Sunday.  Also, thanks to everyone who helped them, and to those who brought plenty of delicious food.

NOTES FROM THE PASTOR

The great cooks of NorthPark outdid themselves again!  Sunday’s carry-in dinner let us have a superb dinner and also get better acquainted with all of the great Small Groups we have in our church.

F.R.O.G.S, Savannah Drive, and B.I.G. F.I.S.H., are three of the creative names of our small groups.  They will all begin, meeting again either this Sunday evening (8/31) or next Sunday evening (9/7).  With all of our many groups, we have a place for you!

If you don’t yet know which group you will attend, contact Linda Arledge here at the church (601) 482-1322. She will be glad to give you options and information to help you in your choice.  Remember: Groups are important – they help us grow in Christ.

Our “Double Service/Double Sunday School” survey tabulation is underway.  We know the bad weather may have caused some people to be unable to participate, so we will continue our survey work this coming Sunday.  If you have already filled out a survey, you won’t have to do it a second time.  If you were not able to share with us this past Sunday, we will have survey for you at church this week!

Our Purpose at NorthPark Church:

            To Know Christ,

            To Grow in Christ,

            To Unconditionally Share Christ,

To Be a Community of Christian Love.
