Q.-Why is # 18 on our left Jersey sleeve?

A.-In honor of "Colonel" Leonard Luke

"Colonel" Leonard Luke was a key person in the life of our Church.  He was

on the Guiding Council, had been a Sunday School teacher,

Board member, Men's Brotherhood leader and more.  He was an officer in the

Air Guard and retired as a full Colonel.  Leonard kept softball going at Parkview

(now NorthPark) for over 20 years.  The Jersey, # 18, is at the Church and is to

be retired in his honor someday.  Leonard used softball as a great recreational

ministry for our church as a coach and manager.

Louis was Dot, short for Dorothy, and Leonard's son who died in the early to

mid 60's.  He contracted encephalitis at around 12 years old and only lived a few

days once the fever started.  The Library at Parkview was dedicated in Louis'

memory by his parents, Leonard and "Dot" , and our future "Luke Field" is dedicated

in honor of "Colonel" Leonard Luke & in memory of Louis Luke.
